I like attempting to capture an exact moment in time so that I can maybe make it last just a little bit longer.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I enjoy street photography with a focus on using film when I can, although a lot of my photos are taken with my Fuji XT20. I like the idea that each time I release my shutter a piece of film is altered forever, capturing whatever it saw in that one moment. There is something terminal in that idea that makes it beautiful to me. It seems to want to capture life but is only be able to capture so much before it is expended and we as photographers must move on to the next shot.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the everyday candid moments. The human experience is complicated and intertwined and I find that even the most mundane things can be shown through art and specifically film photography. I find that looking at life and people being human is what grounds me in what I envision my work to be when I feel lost and not knowing what to capture.
What would you do with $25,000?I would make sure my family would have a fancy dinner, donate a portion to allow a student at USNA to study in Japan, pay off a student loan, and save a portion for an engagement ring.
