My favorite type of art to create can be found somewhere between pop art, expressionism, and modern portraiture. I think I'm drawn to this type of art because I naturally think in stories; I am emotionally perceptive; I notice contradictions in people; I value authenticity over perfection; and I don’t like feeling confined.
Where do you find inspiration?I am mostly inspired by authenticity. I value people who are unapologetically themselves. My art reflects identity, presence, and emotional truth rather than perfection. I'm inspired by emotion and human complexity, as I notice sadness behind confidence, silence behind performance, and pain beneath the beauty. Also, music and storytelling. I'm inspired by black culture, color and energy, and freedom!
What would you do with $25,000?Turning my home office into an art studio gave me a place to create, heal, and express myself creatively. However, my mother has Multiple Sclerosis, so I converted that space into a bedroom so I could care for her full-time. If awarded the $25,000, I would use the funds to either finish the unfinished room above my garage and transform it into a dedicated art studio, or secure a nearby studio space where I can continue creating while remaining close enough to care for my mother.
