Art has helped me express myself since I was a little girl and turn my emotions into meaningful creativity.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create is expressive paintings that reflect Black culture, identity, and emotion. I enjoy creating pieces with bold colors, texture, and storytelling because I want people to feel something when they look at my work. I also love experimenting with mixed media and personal concepts that connect art with real-life experiences, music, and culture.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration through my struggles, life experiences, Black culture, music, faith, and the people around me. My art reflects emotion, growth, and real-life moments that shaped me into the artist I am today.
What would you do with $25,000?With $25,000, I would invest in my future as an artist and educator. I would use the money to grow my art business, E. Canvas, purchase professional art supplies and equipment, and fund larger projects centered around Black culture and storytelling. I would also use part of it toward my education at Claflin University and create opportunities to give back through community art workshops and mentorship for younger artists.
