I love pastels and acrylic most. Art that tells a story and highlights all the love that’s interwoven in the ordinary, all the light we miss, the warmth we think is meant for someone else.
Where do you find inspiration?When I was going through the worst time of my life. (My abuser had taken my kids) I began jogging 6miles a day to help my anxiety but on the days that wasn’t enough and I felt my heart was going to jump through my chest, I’d write poetry or paint a sunrise. Once finished, I felt a relief as if all the love I have for my children needed somewhere to go. That’s how I know art is energy and it speaks of the contents of our soul. How fascinating to know we’re soul watching when we relish in art.
What would you do with $25,000?Victim advocate here and I started a nonprofit (HolisticHealingAssociation) helping victims of domestic violence and other forms of oppression. I combine CBT, neuroscience, epigenetics, spirituality, and art to help victims heal. Trauma stays stuck in victims long after leaving their abuser. My program helps victims heal not only physically and mentally, but also spiritually. I’m also trying to fund my play (A Heart of Flesh) to create awareness about domestic violence. $25K will go far.
