My art is inherently spiritual and political, and my vision behind it is driven by the hope of meaningful change.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I enjoy making poetry, collages and mixed medium art. (I am also in the process of learning to draw.) They are all pieced together with multiple visions and voices that come together as one. They’re made up of any scraps I can find, ranging from items like fortune cookie fortunes, old NatGeo magazines, to any kind of otherwise useless things. They tell stories about injustice, history, the present moment, and the possibilities of the future.
Where do you find inspiration?I find my inspiration in nostalgia, nature, and nearly any form of media you could imagine, like the video games I played as a child, or the music, shows, and movies I enjoy. My art’s creation is the gentle act of forming something meaningful from things otherwise forgotten about or discarded, giving them a new life. I care so deeply for the world and the people in it, and this is my way of presenting that.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use this money to invest in going to school, gather more art supplies/tools, and help my family and community. I hope to one day see the world (however much) better off than when I first got here. <3
