Art is my voice when I can’t express myself in words.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create is visual art that expresses universal experiences through my own experiences and identity. I love to create art in different mediums to show the specific emotions and to honor the vision that I see in my head. I don’t believe an artist has to create art in one medium to be successful. However I do love oil painting and drawing the most!
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in my lived experience, emotions and thoughts. Each piece I make is specific to what I am going through at the time I make it or is a piece reflecting on past experiences as forms of healing and therapy. I choose mediums based on what the idea of the piece needs to say. I find that music also plays a role in enhancing my pieces so they can be understood better. Music can clarify my intentions for a piece and I appreciate it as a form of inspiration.
What would you do with $25,000?I would save a good amount as an investment for my future. I have not yet started on my journey in life as a full fledged adult. I have a hard time visualizing my future right now as I am preparing for graduating from university next year. I know being an artist is my purpose, as well as serving my community. I believe in community, charity, and change. I know I will continue my work in all three. So I would put some money into organizations I have worked for years with as a volunteer.
