I’m a visual thinker. Painting places and animals lets me revisit memories and explore thoughts through colour, texture, and atmosphere.

I’m most drawn to painting landscapes and animals, often blending the two into quiet, narrative scenes. My work sits between realism and painterly abstraction, using layered acrylic to build atmosphere and texture. I’m especially interested in how memory softens detail; forms dissolve, colours shift, and the image feels more remembered than observed. I’ve also begun expanding into large-scale murals and painted objects.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the natural world and in the emotional weight certain places hold. Growing up surrounded by landscapes that felt both familiar and shifting, I became interested in how memory reshapes what we see. I often pull from personal experiences, travel, and quiet moments—like walking a trail or noticing an animal’s presence. I’m also inspired by art history, particularly impressionist and pre-Raphaelite works, where atmosphere, symbolism, and storytelling are deeply intertwined.
What would you do with $25,000?I would invest in expanding my practice into larger-scale and more immersive work, including upgrading my studio and materials for mural and panel-based projects. It would also allow me to dedicate focused time to developing a cohesive body of work for exhibition. With that support, I’d have greater flexibility to continue volunteering in my community, including scenic painting for local theatre.
