Art has been my escape and my passion. I am grateful for the ability to transfer my ideas to paper and hopefully bring joy to the viewer.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite mediums are oil pastels, and oil and acrylic paint, and pencil. I love ordinary and traditional subjects, like flowers, animals, landscapes, and people. However, I like to add Easter eggs. For example, in one painting, a small bird on the right is eyeing a small lizard on the left side of the painting.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration is everywhere! I see subjects in the landscapes, flower patches, fallen trees, people sitting on benches, plates of food, a group of pots, three peppers I took out of the fridge, and so on. Inspiration for me involves being aware and present while noticing and appreciating the world around me.
What would you do with $25,000?I would buy art supplies and travel to museums to see works from artists like Rembrandt, Van Gogh, and Klimt. As great as Alaska is, it doesn’t have these types of museums. I would also buy supplies to help facilitate art therapy groups in my area.
