Gary LAMANNA

I make images of a sense of a world view. These views are layered with contrasting ideas so as to help me understand my interior life.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

Large immersive paintings. I am using very heavy Cotton Duck canvas which is un stretched , hanging by means of grommets. They stand at 7 feet tall by 9 or 10 feet wide. I am using acrylic with drawing.

Where do you find inspiration?

I am looking towards connecting contemporary art with much earlier history. I believe that much contemporary art is far too myopic and hermetically sealed to relate to people's lives. I want my work to reflect issues that may resonate with everyday people. I want it to make a difference in their lives.

What would you do with $25,000?

I have spent the last 22 years building my house and dream studio. I might lose it for back taxes.
