I make art because it makes my soul happy. I make art that will bring joy, nostalgia, and wonder to the viewer.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I make all kinds of art (ceramic, mixed media, painting, photography) but my favorite are larger than life sculptures. I can work with almost any media and I find new methods for making everyday. My work is mostly representational and includes an underlying metaphor. I love using bright colors and recognizable imagery that the viewer can connect with.
Where do you find inspiration? My husband and my parents are my biggest cheerleaders. They have supported and helped me through my undergrad and current grad school programs. They are my inspiration. My family is very close knit and they have always supported my art, whether it was buying supplies, helping me with large sculptures, or taking long road trips to drop off artwork. The ideas for my work come from memories of my childhood, the support I feel from my parents, and the excitement my husband shares for my art career.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use some of the money to thank my parents and husband for their support, maybe take them on a vacation. I would use the rest of the money to build a home art studio and fill it with all the tools and equipment of my dreams. Right now I do not have a studio at home, I am lucky enough to have a personal studio at school but after I graduate in spring of next year I will no longer have a studio to make work. I would love to buy a new kiln and wheel along with new welding equipment.
