What is your favorite type of art to create?

My art is a dialogue between the precision of tattooing and the freedom of monochromatic abstract painting. In the studio, I focus on the craftsmanship of Japanese-inspired and Americana blackwork, where every line requires intentional permanence. On linen and canvas, I explore minimalism through shades of black, prioritizing texture over subject. This balance between the discipline of the needle and the fluid nature of paint allows me to find complexity within a limited, authentic palette.

What would you do with $25,000?

With the grant, I will scale my monochromatic work into immersive installations for therapeutic and public spaces. Drawing from the weathered textures of city walls, I aim to create "calming atmospheres" that provide reflection for veterans and those in hospitals. This funding will support the materials for large-scale murals on linen and canvas, bridging the gap between technical craftsmanship and community service, while fostering an environment where art acts as a tool for healing.
