What is your favorite type of art to create?

My art is a visceral disruption, reclaiming women’s narratives through poetic grit and expressionistic depth. As a German expat, I view painting as a form of translation—bridging traditions to tell the un(der)told stories of women through abstract portraits. My mission is to merge the struggle with the sublime, creating a site of ethical encounter where the act of seeing becomes witnessing. I center the feminine perspective to spark social impact and dialogue. Explore at www.gerburggarmann.com

Where do you find inspiration?

Inspiration stems from sharp observations of the everyday—the raw, unscripted moments of real life. I find creative fuel by intentionally engaging with others, listening for the grit and grace in their stories. This outward connection is balanced by inward retreat: deep reading, philosophical reflection, and the power of pausing. My art lives in that "borderspace" where a moment of stillness meets a sudden, visceral insight, transforming quiet intention into a bold, social mission for women.

What would you do with $25,000?

With $25,000, I’ll fuel a radical cycle of growth and impact. First, I’ll sharpen my own creative edge through relentless continuous education. Next, I’m launching a scholarship for international female artists in the US—women reclaiming their voices in a new land. Finally, I’ll ignite a one-day immersive poetry-painting riot for pre-schoolers in an impoverished Indy neighborhood. It’s about passing the torch, disrupting the cycle, and proving art is a birthright, not a luxury.
