The path is the practice — the destination not predetermined, but born through the act of becoming.

I enjoy making hand-built one-of-a-kind centrepieces out of clay. I've been drawing and painting since I was a child, and I've gone back to school, earning a fine arts undergrad, then an MFA. My practice expanded into sculpture, and I discovered pottery through my teaching assignment. I like the idea that pottery pieces are usable artworks.
Where do you find inspiration?I find my inspiration primarily from nature. Living near the water and in the forest, I enjoy walking on trails with my dogs and seeing the natural underbrush and several rock outcroppings. The texture and colours make their way into the pieces I make.
What would you do with $25,000?I would put it towards building an anagama kiln on my farm. I want to create a community where people can join for a kiln firing. The anagama kiln is an old wood-firing technique.
