Ceramic Sculpture has always been my medium of choice. Working with clay and bringing forms to life is as close to magic and creation. A perfectly thrown pot waits patiently for the story to be told. A figure holds endless possibilities of expression of what lies deeply in the artists heart and mind. Finding the way to create with clay and the choices I make in that process comes with a power and strength that is carefully cultivated through out a lifetime. The choices involved are limitless.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration is nature, art, culture & pain. The depths of emotions over the past 8 years has challenge me into new mediums. Loosing my studio led me painting & drawing to express my loss of self through art As a professional potter, I produced items from Funerary Urns to HoneyPots. Hand Made functional pottery provided me the space and equipment to create intricate Bodies of Work. My art was well known in NY in Ga with One Woman Shows and Awards.
What would you do with $25,000?I would take time and create a body of new work. I would have a documentary made sharing my life as a potter and artist . 50 years as a ceramic artist and craftsmanship honed to an art form …. Fifty years and 8 Tons of Clay- Studio space and an upcoming show would inspire me to create a legacy and share details of my training as an apprentice and hopefully train others in the near future. Keeping functional pottery relevant and affordable is important! Training young people is a goal !
