My mosaic portraits explore mood & expression, using colorful, textural & unusual materials to deepen narrative and emotional intensity.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Mosaic portraits. Mosaic allows me to use all types of materials in combination, sometimes with surprising or whimsical effect. Sourcing the materials themselves is part of the joy in the process, even before a work gets started. While I’m in the midst of creation, I’ll remember something I have stashed away that will work perfectly ~ I love those aha moments! They inevitably bring more intensity and narrative into the picture.
Where do you find inspiration?Everywhere. Every face is full of power and expression. Though every person has the same features, we are all unique, which is what I mean to convey with every single piece I set into my mosaics.
What would you do with $25,000?Keep on doing what I'm doing with more ease and relaxation. New materials & equipment for my studio, & some travel!
