My favorite art to create is hyper-realistic miniature food. There is a fascinating 'dopamine effect' that happens when people interact with miniatures—it instantly sparks joy and wonder. When a collector uses my pieces for play or display in their doll room, it creates a peaceful, meditative escape that takes their worries away. I love knowing that my art provides a tiny sanctuary where people can disconnect from the stress of the real world and simply enjoy a moment of whimsy.
Where do you find inspiration?My deepest inspiration comes from the collectors themselves. When I see how a miniature scene can provide a much-needed 'escape' for someone, it inspires me to push the boundaries of detail. I’m motivated by the idea that these small pieces of art can give so much joy to collectors.
What would you do with $25,000?As the original creator of miniature doll food with a 26-year legacy, I’d use this prize to prove that 1:6 scale art belongs in the modern art world. I’ll scale my wholesale operations and grow my magazine into a platform that spotlights emerging artists, giving them the visibility they deserve. Beyond the business, these funds will allow me to support my family, sharing the rewards of this lifelong journey. I want to turn a niche passion into a legacy that lifts an entire community.
