Creating art helps me understand my thoughts, feelings and helps me express myself to others. Images speak in all languages.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I am always looking for a challenge. I paint, sculpt, make prints, jewelry, garden, sew and now I am working on a cut paper/ found object animation project. I love story telling. Above all I see art as communication. I also am excited by helping others to make art. Sparking interest in the arts is creating.
Where do you find inspiration?Everywhere! I am a chronic observer. I have a lot of questions; many are answered by being patient and observant. My work is pretty biographical. I prefer to let it speak for itself. I am 66 years old. What inspired me 60 years ago is still with me, but I have had so many other inspirations since then. The people that I met and the places I have been all inspired what I have made. My own growth experiences made works that are painful to look at! Nina Paley made me start my animation project.
What would you do with $25,000?Work my animation project into an ongoing series, telling stories of my experiences and stories that my family and friends have shared with me. In the 66 years I have been alive, I have accumulated many stories worth sharing. They enriched my life and I hope that others will be touched by them.
