I draw graphite into wet oil paint, letting control and chaos collide before settling into hybrid images between drawing and painting.

I make work that sits between drawing and painting, using graphite in wet oil so marks are fixed immediately. I’m drawn to the tension between control and accident, where images shift away from their source and settle into something uncertain.
Where do you find inspiration?I start from source images, but the real interest is in how they fall apart, how material and process distort them into something less fixed.
What would you do with $25,000?I’d invest it directly into the work, materials, residencies, and time in new environments where the process can be pushed and tested.
