Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

Although I prefer to explore and stay open, I love working with acrylics, because I can play with it a lot more even though I use to deal with oils. With acrylics, I can layer my work without any problems. Some of my work involves in pouring, collapsing, and heavy textures for depth and viscosity. The best part of what I do involves watching the paint do its natural process without my having to force anything. Images usually either comes immediately or later.

Where do you find inspiration?

I mostly paint to ambient and space music, but I find inspirations in nature, when it rains, walking up the mountains, or in a deep trance, in silence with just the raindrops which helps set the mood. Creating colors alone, mixing and playing around the canvas, sometimes inspires to open that creative field. Mistakes are not an accident. It gives my work, another element of surprise I didn't expect. It gives it that edge and trusting what the unconscious wants to express and show and present.

What would you do with $25,000?

Honestly, it would be a huge deal just to be chosen, to be given an opportunity and to be recognized. I haven't given much thought to what I would do, because I want to experience what it would feel like to win something big for the first time. It would make me proud of myself. An honor and a deep sense of pride to have accomplished something that will open those doors for me. This is only made possible because of this creative energy that flows love and shows its creative energy through me.
