I create art to connect to the world around me. Nature and the beauty of the organic work as my inspirations.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I enjoy creating ceramic vessels that can be used in a utilitarian setting or simply for decor. I like to make pieces that give the viewer a sense of warmth. Many of my works feature iron stains that give a shine and slip trailed lines that direct the eye. I enjoy making pieces that keep the viewers engaged.
Where do you find inspiration?I get my inspiration from nature. I enjoy incorporating textures inspired by foliage and stone. I enjoy learning from previous artists such as Joe Singewald or Sam Harvey. They teach me new techniques and inspire a sense on wonder when I create.
What would you do with $25,000?If I were to receive the $25,000 I would use parts to pay for the rest of my undergraduate degree. I am currently a third year Art Education and Ceramics student at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. With the remaining money, I would like to give some to my parents - who have been my biggest encouragement. I would also save some for my future. In the future, I would like to get my masters degree’s in Ceramic Science, so having the money would help to fund my application for that program.
