I feel a strong compulsion to create. The feel of shaping raw material creates a thrum in my soul that connects me to the whole world.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create is something that inspires and elevates the audience. I feel like my art is always close to saying something without actually saying it. Through my work at a non profit art center I find that art can reach right down into your soul and stay with you through your whole life. Whether I'm making a claymation or a giant sculpture from scrap parts from the side of the road, I try to imbue my work with the same sense of wonder and joy that I get from art.
Where do you find inspiration? So many different things inspire me it is hard to sum up what feels so nebulous and huge into words. In people it's individuals that break the mould and choose to make their story that of an underdog hero. In my own life it is overcoming struggle and adversity. In my work it's seeing the youth show surprising resilience in the face of uncertainty. I guess i'm inspired by all the best and worst parts of life.
What would you do with $25,000?I would marry the love of my life, and use the money to help me and my fiancée build our art business where we make stop motion animation, toys and sculpture.
