I feel complete and very present when I create pieces. How others interpret my work in their own ways allows me to see even more.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Sculptures of different subject matter I prefer. I like to work with my hands with different materials but steel is most permanent in this impermanent world. The steel grinding, torch cutting and welding feed me in a way that gives me a feeling of timelessness when I work and lingers after. I don't always know how to build the idea I have but the beauty is in figuring it out. I also like to work with leather and other metals. Some of my sculptures in my profile are 7'-9' in size.
Where do you find inspiration?Sometimes in my tools. It can come from a comment a politician made to a tree that fell over in the street or the plant life growing around the roots. Staring at the material I use whether its scraps or just the cracks in the concrete floor inspire me with something new. It may be an idea that had nothing to do with what I was looking at. It doesn't always come but that is part of the process.
What would you do with $25,000?Continue building pieces and inspiring others to do the same and teach various artists some of my techniques.
