I create art to preserve Garifuna identity. Through hyperrealistic portraits in ballpoint pen and colored pencil, I turn culture, memory.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
The type of art I enjoy creating is realism, with a strong focus on portraits and human anatomy. I work with materials such as pens, colored pencils, and charcoal to bring my ideas to life. My goal is to accurately capture facial expressions, emotions, and the subtle movements of the human body, highlighting both physical detail and inner feeling in each piece I create.
Where do you find inspiration?I’m inspired by my culture, my personal experiences, and the emotions I want to express. My identity is at the center of everything I create.
What would you do with $25,000?With this money and this opportunity, I will continue investing in the growth of my artistic career, since from the moment I started in art, the lack of resources and support has made the process more difficult. Even so, the desire to achieve more and improve myself, along with this gift from God, is what has kept me working hard and moving forward with faith.
