I have a strange passion for faces. One of my favorite things to do is sit and draw a face and just see who comes out of my head. More often than not people think I’m drawing a real person but it’s just someone i envision. I think there’s a lot of expression and meaning in the way that people hold themselves, especially in their faces and through their eyes, which is what I generally start with. I think it’s really cool to be able to dive into somebody’s personality who isn’t real.

Most of my inspiration comes from really deep emotions. I think we don’t often get to express ourselves the way that we want to, but when you draw someone’s face or simply their eyes, there’s so much emotion that you can convey. I try to tell an emotional story in every face or piece that I draw or paint, and a lot of that comes from my own experience in the world.

This sounds cliché, but I would give it to my mom. She’s a single mom and has raised two kids with just the most hope and admiration for who her kids could one day be and she has never stifled an opportunity for us. She makes them. She goes out of her way to make sure my sister and I are taken care of, I have watched her struggle and strive and could only hope to repay all she’s done for us.
