I love creating because something alive emerges from silence and inner feeling, and mathematics and thread help me give it form.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I create string art using wood, nails, and thread, building intricate compositions entirely from straight lines under tension. I’m drawn to radial and geometric forms where thousands of intersecting threads create an illusion of curves, depth, and movement. My work shifts with light and viewing angle, revealing new structures over time. Using simple materials, I construct pieces that feel dynamic, luminous, and alive.
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration comes from light, natural rhythms, and the geometry within living forms. Growing up in Ukraine, I was influenced by traditional patterns that shaped my sense of structure and beauty. Travel across Asia deepened this perspective. I’m drawn to solar and cosmic imagery, exploring how energy moves through form. I translate this into thread, creating compositions with depth, movement, and inner light.
What would you do with $25,000?I would create large-scale immersive installations where thread and geometry transform architectural space into environments people can enter and experience. I would also develop educational materials to make string art accessible to new artists. This funding would allow me to expand both the scale of my work and its reach.
