Art has no wrong answers. Only choices, experiments, happy accidents. Art turns blank space into something that didn’t exist before.

The work I'm drawn to most is fine art equestrian photography- specifically the kind that finds mythology in modern western life. Moody, cinematic, Baroque in its bones. I'm influenced by Rembrandt and Caravaggio as much as by the land and the people in front of my lens. My ongoing series- Nocturne- a study of light rendered in deep chiaroscuro- is where my obsession lives most fully right now.
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration lives at the intersection of the old art masters and the open country. I grew up in Kentucky- horses, bluegrass, long light over rolling pastures- and that landscape shaped my eye before I ever picked up a camera. I study Vermeer and Caravaggio for the way they carved figures out of darkness, and I find the same drama in a barn doorway at dusk or a rider silhouetted against a storm. Western life is my subject. Fine art is my language.
What would you do with $25,000?$25,000 would let me invest in the work at a level I haven't been able to yet. First, gear- investing in a studio space to help match the ambition of my fine art series. Then, building creative community; hosting workshops and shoot days that bring photographers, stylists, models and riders together in the South. I'd also put funds towards producing and printing a coffee table book of my work.
