Community is my canvas. I restore old buildings in historic sites to co-create new cultures and showcase the changes through conceptual art.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

New ways of living! I am a social practice artist. That means I learn from pioneering women and I create collaborative spaces where art, life, critical thinking, wellbeing, and community intersect to improve the wellbeing of the participants. The buildings, relationships, artifacts, and case studies become the artwork—allowing people to feel and co-design possible futures, not just judge them intellectually.

Where do you find inspiration?

I’m inspired by creative risk-takers and place-makers like Theaster Gates, Ai Wei Wei and Judy Chicago, along with women building change in everyday life. I draw inspiration from other artists, NGOs projects, systems, human rights movements, and small towns brave enough to imagine new futures. I’m inspired by the possibility that art can reshape culture, strengthen critical thinking, and create more meaningful connection and wellbeing. Nina Simon and Jerry Saltz help me translate my work.

What would you do with $25,000?

I spent 5 years restoring dilapidated buildings in D. W. Griffith’s hometown, across from the theater built to honor him, preparing them for this work. With this $25K prize, I will launch 20 place-based public art experiments exploring propaganda, critical thinking, and women’s wellbeing. Women will help test and measure which cultural systems designed for healing and connection. I will openly share the blueprints, posters, case studies, photos, documents, and measures from this art project.
