What is your favorite type of art to create?

My work is a process of "Digital Alchemy" merging technical photography with physical craftsmanship. I specialize in a "Swamp Gothic" aesthetic, transforming Southwest Florida’s wild elements, like palm wood and skeletal botanicals, into luxury artifacts. I love the challenge of taking "the raw" and refining it into something ethereal, using everything from a Canon 6D Mark II to hand-mixed cyanotypes washed in hibiscus to create a bruised, botanical depth to my upcoming skin product line.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration in the "Essential Self." It is a vibrant peace found in nature before language takes over. My eye was sharpened in a dermpath lab, where I learned to see the complex beauty in biological architecture. Today, that translates into an obsession with Florida’s untamed wetlands: moss-draped cypress, shifting Gulf light, and the gritty, soulful textures of 1970s swamp rock. I’m moved by the intersection of raw decay and high-end luxury found in the swamp’s hidden corners.

What would you do with $25,000?

This would fund the transition of my practice into a full-scale luxury brand. I would invest in high-fidelity archival equipment for my "Lab" and dedicate space to "Trash-To-Fashion" couture, like my current project for the J.N. "Ding" Darling Wildlife Refuge. It would also fund a documented photography expedition to capture Florida’s rare ghost orchids and bioluminescence for a new fine art series, allowing me to share the haunting beauty of our state on a national level.
