I write songs to give melody to my emotions and passions. To me it's what makes me most human but also makes me unique. It is my gift.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love creating songs in different musical/cultural genres. Currently I have been writing Puerto Rican bomba songs but have written hip hop songs, son Cubano to Hip Hop songs, spoken word, Puerto Rican plena as well. This Bronx projects born Puerto Rican is super proud that my songs are being played and sung in Puerto Rico and all over the bomba diaspora.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in daily life, world events, and human emotions. The other day I started writing a song after someone asked me what was my favorite word: ajonjolí (sesame). I sang the name outloud and a melody came to me along with words! So much fun! Horchata de ajonjolí (sesame water) con canela (with cinnamon) Horchata de ajonjoli (sesame water) que me refresca (refreshes me). I love themes of love, justice, compassion, culture, historical events and even nature.
What would you do with $25,000?I would record a bomba album with amazing musicians to leave my legacy of songwriting to next generations. $25,000 would also help to promote and produce popular events including workshops and performances. Artist, Bad Bunny, recently popularized Bomba music for the world to see and it is the right time to record and present bomba in an in depth way to all audiences. check out YouTube link of recent song, "Te Dominé" next to IG button up top. Thanks fam!
