I love creating art because being human is messy — and art lets me honor that.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I don’t have a favorite—putting one above another misses the point. The way I see it, a doodle, layered canvas, or a sculpture—they all hold the same weight. The best art is the one that got made. That’s what I’m drawn to in my own work—the moment of just doing it, no overthinking, no hierarchy. A lot of my pieces start that way:instinctive, unfiltered, sometimes on a Post-it—just proving I showed up.
Where do you find inspiration? Most of it comes through the process. I build, layer, and stay with it until something shows itself. It’s less about finding inspiration and more about not leaving before it arrives.
What would you do with $25,000?Hopefully anonymously. I’d put it toward supporting the youth I work with at Covenant House, a shelter for runaway youth and survivors of trafficking—especially heading into the summer. Making sure they have what they need and just putting it back where it matters. You’d be surprised—people donate pants in the summer, but our youth need shorts, lighter clothes, and ways to stay cool.
