I am a Sonic Architect that creates the frameworks for new worlds and sites for the traditions of Sonic storytelling and the practice of UBUNTU (the sacred community). Music for me should evoke the radical imagination.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration from the work of modern dance groups like Alvin Ailey, Metamorphosis Dance group, Paul Zane, as well as the work of James Baldwin, Angela Davis, Malcolm X, Toni Morrison, Robin DG Kelly, In the ancient practices of Buddhism/Taoism/African/Afro-Cuban cosmological exploration; in the Sonic explorations of John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Bessie Smith, Hindustani Classical music, Blues, Hip Hop, rumba, soul music, and in travel.
What would you do with $25,000?I would begin by creating a space where creators of all disciplines could come to create and present work, that focused on art for healing; a brick and mortar healing center where artistic/shamanistic practitioners would come to work in residence to both teach healing through art as well as provide healing through their respective cultural/artistic modalities to those in need of and hungry to learn.
