I love creating work for its sense of containment—vessels holding memory, resilience, and a luminous blend of contemporary form.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite art to create is ceramic vessels—forms of containment. I love building surfaces through layered clay (porcelain, stoneware, earthenware) and letting the process reveal unexpected lines, movement, and strength. Each piece becomes a quiet record of resilience and care.
Where do you find inspiration?I’m inspired by my mother’s quiet strength and the resilience it takes to rebuild a life in a new place and language. I translate that into vessels of containment—layered clay forms where tension, endurance, and tenderness are revealed through time and fire.
What would you do with $25,000?I would give back to the ceramic communities that helped shape my journey—NCECA, GHP, Natural Sculpture Society, FLAG, Ewha Alumnae, and KNYAA. I would then use the remaining funds to strengthen my studio so I can make larger, more ambitious work: a larger kiln, kiln furniture, tools, 240V electrical upgrades, better winter heating, organized storage/display space, and professional photography for submissions and exhibitions.
