What is your favorite type of art to create?

My passion is working with leather. My favorite things to make are harnesses, the math and design work needed to create a custom piece for someone who may not be able to find things in their size or body shape. That final piece is always so personal and the glow the client gets is something truly inspiring to keep making more. Costumes is my second passion, burlesque and Drag appealed to me cause I love creating new characters.

Where do you find inspiration?

In every day life, sometimes I will see a flower I want to recreate the color of. Or a friend will inspire me by just being uniquely themselves. Being part of an artist/maker space has been pushing my work into a whole new direction. Each class I teach I get inspired by the students fresh view of this ancient craft. The stage also inspires me, I have slowed down performing but have plans for producing a few shows and plays. Going and seeing friends perform is the greatest inspiration.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would invest it in building a small play/drag project I have been waiting to bring to the stage for the funding to make the costumes and sets the way I imagine. Working directly with the local artists in my maker space and Boston community. Local makers supporting each other, and building more of a sustainable life for our community. Is really what art should be used for.
