Howard Teman

I’ve been drawing as long as I was able to hold a crayon. I have never not had an art project of some kind going in all of my 61 years!

What is your favorite type of art to create?

I have been drawing huge pen and ink canvases on drawing boards that are in the ballpark of 56” x 36”. I have drawn over 40 boards that each take up to 5 months to over a year each. The subjects range from Rock n Roll Legends to Animal fantasy jazz bands. Usually I start in pencil, then I move on to Koh-i-Noor Rapidograph pens. Some are then painted in photoshop. Usually there are many hidden images I add in hair, cigarette smoke, wood grain. Etc. Lots of Fun finding them!!

Where do you find inspiration?

My inspiration is drawn from my never limited imagination. I usually come up with a theme. Which leads to hours and hours of research and inspiration on line. Then I go buy my drawing board and start knocking out the sketch.

What would you do with $25,000?

Well I can take a few months off my tattoo gig I do at my private home tattoo studio, and dedicate the time solely on creating my Pièce de Résistance. I have a few ideas floating in my head which I would love to have absolutely no other distractions for me to create!!
