I love creating art because I honestly believe it is the skill God has given me to connect with the world and be of service to my community.

I love the human form and portraits. In almost all my work I use people and their expressions to tell stories, build worlds, and evoke feelings only a face can convey. All of my work is drawn and painted by hand with acrylic paints colored pencils, and resin. Using these precise tools, I explore the light and dark sides of humans, our world, and how those two sides can be juxtaposed to create something beautiful.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in all forms of art. Movies and music are two wells that I continually go to for ideas. Often, when listening to music, I am struck with images that seem to be outlined by the tune. It doesn’t have to relate to the lyrics, but I feel that many songs transport us to a specific scene that is ripe to be rendered in the visual form. As for movies, cinematic compositions have always informed my work, and seeing another artist’s vision brought to life is a great inspiration.
What would you do with $25,000?Painting is my career as well as my life. If I were to receive the $25,000, every bit of it would go into creating larger and more challenging paintings and projects. I also have a group of fellow emerging artist friends that I would love to host a pop-up show for and help promote our artistic community.
