My favorite type of art to create is photographic poetry—where images and words meet. I’m especially drawn to desert landscapes, like Death Valley, where light, silence, and vastness strip everything down to its essence. In those spaces, I capture not just what I see, but what I feel and contemplate. Combining photography with poetry allows me to express both the visible and the invisible—what the eye sees and what the soul wrestles with.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration in quiet places—especially in the desert, where silence, light, and vast landscapes strip life down to its essence. In those moments, I become more aware of time, presence, and the subtle movements within my own soul. I’m also deeply inspired by faith, by questions of existence, and by the tension between emptiness and meaning. Inspiration, for me, often comes not from something loud or dramatic, but from stillness—where I can truly see, listen, and reflect.

What would you do with $25,000?

With $25,000, I would invest in bringing my long-term project to life—a photography and poetry book shaped by over a decade of work in Death Valley. I would use it to refine the printing process, collaborate with designers, and ensure the work is presented with the depth and care it deserves. Part of it would also support further time in the field, allowing me to continue exploring light, silence, and the human condition.
