I make art to dig deep into thinking about ourselves and our society. I am constructing an understanding of our life together on planet eart

My practice is a conversation between the physicality of sculpture and the conceptual fluidity of drawing. I love the engineering challenge and the way a piece demands space through its scale and material presence. Drawing is where I allow myself to cut loose, invent, and map out complex ideas. While my work often extends into fiber and social practice, I am currently focusing my energy on sculpture and drawing, to synthesize my interests into a more cohesive and intentional body of work
Where do you find inspiration? The long thread of my work is an investigation into our origins and our relationship to land. My current work investigates the land and our relationship to it. With ideas of ancestry, natural resources, dominance, companionship and stewardship, I create POV sculptural experiences of the land. The land and our relationship to it cannot escape colonial pasts and capitalism. The land represents the roots of all the layers of complexity in our human experience.
What would you do with $25,000?Imagine walking into a room to find yourself in an imaginary landscape. I have long dreamt of creating a large exhibition encompassing several bodies of work. I have a vision of creating an immersive installation in which viewers enter a space of a surreal landscape built similar to the slotted land sculptures in my profile. As the viewer enters they would be encompassed by larger than life undulating walls in which they can see into the "earth" through the layered slats creating the space.
