What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love creating different ceramic sculptures and projects involving mixed media because no matter if I start with specific ideas in my sketchbook there’s a calm in letting them change as I build. What I imagine never ends up exactly the same, and that’s a favorite part. The experience of and purpose behind what I create means the most to me. I’m drawn to texture and organic forms, and when my work evolves into something people can also interpret in their own way.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration in textures, nature, and science, like patterns, growth, and evolution of how things change over time. I also get a lot from music and writing because they help me process ideas and emotions differently. As well as reimagining “basic” objects or ideas and double meanings to create more playful aspects. I like bringing all of that together into work that feels layered and open to interpretation.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would use it to help pay for my education at Otis College of Art and Design so I can focus on growing as an artist. It’s an incredible opportunity to build a foundation for my future within the industry and a space dedicated to support not compete. A creative community where I can collaborate and keep evolving my work is really important to me. I also want to use what I create to connect with people and give back to local causes and communities in a meaningful way.
