What is your favorite type of art to create?

I am most drawn to portrait based, mixed-media art that centers people and their stories. I focus on capturing subtle emotion, expressions, presence and what often goes unspoken. Recently my work has been rooted in exploring humanity through Haitian subjects, layering in symbolic elements like the Bird of Paradise flower to add depth. I'm interested in creating work that feels intimate, intentional and connected to something larger than the image itself.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration in people and real-life experiences; especially in quiet moments, emotions and conversations that often go unnoticed. Being a Haitian woman shapes how I see the world and pushes me to approach people with more depth, care and intention. I'm also drawn to nature and organic forms which I use symbolically in my work. All of this influences how I tell stories and represent humanity.

What would you do with $25,000?

Receiving 25000 would be an incredible opportunity to invest in myself as an artist and grow in my work. I would use it to dedicate more time to creating, upgrade materials and equipment and explore new mediums like video. It would also allow me to create more intentional, large-scale pieces and share them more widely through digital platforms with the goal of connecting with people through meaningful storytelling.
