Art is an escape for me. It’s the only form of self expression I know, and I find that I can’t process my deepest emotions without creating.

I’m a mixed media artist, but my absolute favorite medium is paint. I love mixing colors, introducing textures with different sponges and palette knives, and having the freedom to put dreams onto canvas. I don’t like to stop in the 2-D realm. I take my love of sculpture and add “junk” to my pieces. From playing cards to computer chips to beads. I love creating pieces people want to touch.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration for my work through whatever I’m processing emotionally at the moment. I love using bold colors, and not sticking to “conventional” skin tones for portraits. I do this because I want to evoke that feeling I was processing while painting the piece.
What would you do with $25,000?I could finally get my babies and I a home of our own. I would have my own studio space to keep creating, and I could give my kids their own rooms! That’s what’s most important to me.
