I’ve always been fascinated with art, comic books, and cartoons. When I was a kid I dreamt to be a cartoonist. The dream never died.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I mostly do illustrations or sketch in my free time. I’ve been inventing characters as long as I can remember. The past year I’ve been learning how to do animation and attempting to create my own YouTube channel where I can bring my character designs and ideas to life. Skits, shorts, and someday full length episodes are my end goal. I don’t even care if my art becomes famous because it’s just what makes me happy.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration from my childhood self. The cartoons that I used to watch and still revisit as an adult. Creating art with my kid and watching her grow and learn new techniques. She’s already leagues above where I was at her age, in many ways. I once heard someone say that you never know how your art is going to impact someone. I see that in the people around me. That I’m not just all talk anymore, that my characters and doodles are becoming recognizable or inspirational to my family.
What would you do with $25,000?I would put a significant portion into my child’s future education, whatever that may be. I would set some aside for a rainy day so that my family can have some financial security that we currently do not have. I would pay off my bills, my debt, and even pay some things in advance so we can have some cushion to not be so stressed. The older you get the more you realize how fast money goes. So, I will try to stretch it as long as I can in order to pursue my dreams.
