I'm interested in the future as it pertains to Black technologies in the framework of abstraction.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Primarily abstract paintings on unstretched canvas. Use of acrylic paint and meanstreak with occasional collage work.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the mythology and potential of Black futures, present and past. Ancestral knowledge and technology whether it be written, drawn or aurally passed also inspire me. I would like to imagine that I was devinely chosen to add on to that pantheon of artists who were selected to build within and on that mythology.
What would you do with $25,000?I would like to use my background in Interdisciplinary Art and approach to use the funds for travel and research. Those locations would be based on the diasporic saga and history of the Garifuna people. They include Belize (Dangriga), Honduras (Roatan), and the island of St. Vincent. This research would be the framework of a larger multimedia project exploring the enslaved rebellion of the Black Caribs (Garifuna) and our future. Whether real or imagined.
