My favorite type of art to create is reductive charcoal work. I love beginning in complete darkness and slowly erasing the image into existence, pulling light out of the abyss. I am drawn to the symbolism of that process, creating order from chaos and allowing the image to reveal itself over time. I also love building visual riddles filled with mythology, philosophy, and hidden meaning that invite people to keep discovering something new.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in theology, philosophy, mythology, and the wisdom of ancient cultures. I am deeply drawn to the symbols and stories that different civilizations used to understand the mysteries of life, death, and the soul. A lot of my ideas begin with a question or a symbolic riddle, and from there the image slowly reveals itself through the charcoal.
What would you do with $25,000?I would pour it directly back into my art practice, and it would also help me greatly financially. It would allow me to purchase materials and frame a large body of my work, which is essential for exhibitions and gallery opportunities. Most importantly, it would give me the financial stability to focus more deeply on creating new pieces.
