What is your favorite type of art to create?

I’m drawn to figurative work in acrylic, using the human form as a psychological landscape. I focus less on likeness and more on what lies beneath including tension and subtle emotional distortion. I want viewers to feel implicated, to pause and question their perceptions. Painting becomes a way to surface the internal, creating something intimate, slightly unsettled, and psychologically engaging rather than purely representational.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration where psychology meets lived experience, especially in mental health and the complexity of relationships like the mother–child bond. My studies shape how I notice subtle emotion; what’s revealed versus what’s concealed. I’m drawn to quiet, telling moments, a glance or gesture that suggests deeper tension. These become the foundation of my figurative work, where I aim to make inner experiences visible and emotionally resonant.

What would you do with $25,000?

With $25,000, I would first create stability to cover essential expenses and build a small emergency fund to ease the strain of living on a fixed income. Then I’d invest in art supplies so I can work consistently, since creating is tied to my well-being. I’d reach into my community offering small workshops, and building connections so I can move toward independence while giving back in a meaningful way.
