I create portraits both self-portraits and of others to spark dialogue about identity and origin. Using flags, bold colors, and layered hues, I emphasize storytelling and presence. My work spans graphite, colored pencils, printmaking, and oil pastels, exploring how color can stand out and communicate meaning. I’m drawn to art that invites reflection and makes viewers think.
Where do you find inspiration?I found a lot of inspiration from other portrait artist like Frida Kahlo, Amy Sherald, Cruz Ortiz and so many others. Artist who focous on telling a story of themselves or others, you learn something from certain group of people. I find inspiration from make art like me, in the sense of topic like Latino/queer art, look at way there and other identities in art.
What would you do with $25,000?If I was blessed with $25,000, I would use it to buy A studio space in Baltimore would give me access to opportunities, mentorship, and a strong artist network. Financial support would allow me to focus on building connections without stress, expand my practice, and take on larger, collaborative projects. My goal is to create murals for the public to experience, and this support would help me grow and thrive as an artist.
