Making art is in my soul. It's a spiritual connection that's hard to put into words. I have to make art. It's who I am.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Sculptures are my favorite type of art to create. I love combining different materials and making them flow together. I want each element to become one without loosing their color, texture or hand. That's what I love about working with fabric and leather. They have a specific nature in their movement and the way they drape over a cast I create or how they hug a piece of steel. I can mold it into anything I want. And with sculpture you can see the work change when you see it in the round.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration inside myself. My heart and soul dictates every piece I make.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use that money to pay my rent and all my living expenses. Then I could make my art without any financial burdens or restrictions as long as it lasted. I'm working on a group of pieces that require a larger space, and a higher level of technical expertise that I need to work out. Twenty-five thousand dollars would provide me the freedom and resources to make these pieces happen.
