Mixed media painting. Specifically my practice uses thread lines of embroidery floss to depict imagery imagery of the world as seen through a singular queer expression. The paintings simply exist for viewers to examine and explore the stillness of a version of the world painted for them as a story of their own invention from the images I have provided in paint.
Where do you find inspiration?People. The quiet person I the room, the individual aiming to do good and not only survive the world but aim to make it better. These are people of the two cities I reside in. They persistent and steadfast, I’m inspired by their discipline and dedication to their individual communities. The paths we walk don’t always allow for beauty to flourish, but I and to utilize motifs of our shared daily life to compose inspiration and new ways of looking
What would you do with $25,000?The award would be used for studio material simply to make more work and continue robust research for the preparation of a new body of work. Research is an important aspect of my projects, with previous projects, I visited UCLA special collections, and additionally traveled for site visits to collect content. The research would not exceed but 15-20% of the budget, however it would ensure this phase of the project could remain robust. In Short 10-12 total artworks.
