In my best work, "creativity" flows through me into the piece. As a member of the universe, I harness that force for its self-expression.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I like to make pieces that give the viewer a broad level of freedom to interpret the work as they see fit. I as the artist am only one part of the experience; you as the viewer are the other (perhaps more important) part of that experience. If my work is too representational I will most likely be judged by its execution more so than its content. To abstracted; more likely to be ignored or ridiculed. I like to give a "glimmer" of something that the viewer will hopefully be intrigued by.
Where do you find inspiration?I love the rhythmic textures that can be found in nature. The cracks in dried mud. The bark of old trees. The modular construction of burned wood. This measured chaos fascinates me. I love the small things. A dried leaf is as worthy of study as Rodan's "The Thinker". I am currently infatuated with the beginnings, transitioning of our experiences with natural forces and our crafting of them into to our deities.
What would you do with $25,000?I will use it to pursue more ambitious projects. Perhaps sculpture or an in-depth body of work that can be shown at a gallery.
