I create art because I have to. It’s a meditation that transports me from the day to day - to a place of exploration and healing.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
To me, I need to follow the spark of creativity. Whether it be a new idea, a new medium or building on an older concept. I have several open series going all the time. For me my favorite is whatever I am charged on at that time.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration is everywhere. It could be a line in a song or a poem that creates a spark. It could be the complexities of love or the bigger questions of existence. Sometimes inspiration comes in a new idea of how to blend different materials. Though a lot of the it’s looking back at life lived and expressing the emotions from those experiences.
What would you do with $25,000?If I were to receive a $25,000 award, I would use it to put back into my art. It would be used to purchase materials and tools to dig deeper and explore further. In a lot of ways, having restrictions financially can create innovation by trying to find ways to achieve results without the proper tools or materials. That being said I would love the opportunity to have the resources to push into new territories.
