I create art as a way to commune with my surroundings, to ignite change and give others permission to play, be, create, speak, see and hear

My favorite type of art is street art and graffiti, especially if it's being witnessed. I love the connection people have to art that is being made for them. There is a different meaning to each individual when they are a part of the creation. The spontaneity of graffiti and using spray paint is instantly satisfying. I enjoy not knowing what I am going to create and letting one image decide the next. The use of words and symbols in street art creates a perfect platform for conversation.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in current events and personal emotions, issues I am navigating through and have some connection to someone else, navigating the same thing. It feels important enough to address, research, and work through in a visual way. The ultimate is to create in collaboration with other makers, especially those with a different set of skills. I thrive in an environment that encompases sound, texture, smell, sight and invites others in to experience it as well.
What would you do with $25,000?With $25,000, I would curate, design, and produce collaborative mural curricula and public artworks that serve communities in need, providing voice, skills and jobs. This work is rooted in my deep inspiration from the artists of the 1960s and 1970s who moved art beyond gallery walls and into public spaces, transforming it into an accessible and collective experience. These murals become public installations of the lives that created them. Everyone's story should be told.
